Topic: Compassion Fatigue & Burnout – I’m human too
Facilitators: Michael Smith & Rachael Tait
We are looking forward to seeing you at our Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System Schwartz Round where we will be reflecting on ‘Compassion Fatigue & Burnout’. Schwartz Rounds are a CPD accredited group reflective practice and staff experience forum, offering an opportunity for all staff to come together and discuss the social and emotional impact of working in health and social care in a supportive and confidential environment.
They last for an hour and are led by two facilitators, we usually listen to the stories of up to four colleagues which provides a springboard for group reflection afterward. Rounds are not for problem solving, but focus on the relational aspects of the work such as the highs, lows, challenges, rewards and everything in-between.
Rounds can help staff feel more supported in their jobs, allowing them the time and space to reflect on their roles. Evidence shows that staff who attend Rounds feel less stressed and isolated, with increased insight and appreciation for each other’s roles. They also help to reduce hierarchies between staff and to focus attention on relational aspects of care.
If you are interested in sharing your story at this Round or any in the future which is a great personal development opportunity please do contact us: nwicb.primarycareworkforce@nhs.net
