The Norfolk Medicines Support Service (NMSS) will end on 31st March 2026, at the point of contract end, following a review of the service and wider medicines management options in the community.
What this means for people you support
- The ICB and Norfolk County Council are contacting individuals and professionals to support this change.
- People will be contacted ahead of any changes over the coming weeks.
- Transition plans will be personalised and reflect individual needs, location, GP and pharmacy arrangements.
- Individuals will be at different stages of transition over the coming months.
What this means for providers
- NMSS is no longer accepting new referrals and is focusing on those currently supported or on the waiting list.
- Free MAR charts and compliance aids provided via NMSS will no longer be available from 1st April 2026.
Actions for providers
- If you currently use NMSS-issued MAR charts, begin planning how you will transition supply. Your pharmacist may be able to supply MAR charts or suggest alternatives (charges may apply). You may already use an alternative format.
- Other compliance aids will be considered by pharmacists based on individual need and may still be issued under the Equality Act.
- If you have concerns about a specific individual, please support them to speak with their pharmacist or family member.
Norfolk Care Association will continue to keep members updated as further guidance becomes available.
