Care Home Manager Wins Social Care Heroes Award
We are proud to share some wonderful news from one of our members, ArmsCare.
Yvonne Sands, a manager at ArmsCare has been successfully nominated to attend a reception at Windsor Castle with Their Majesties The King and Queen, in recognition of her lifetime of compassionate care.
Having dedicated more than 15 years of her life to ArmsCare, Yvonne’s journey began as a part-time night carer. Through commitment, compassion and determination, she progressed through senior roles before becoming the much-loved manager of Summerville House, an ArmsCare home in Heacham, Norfolk. Her career has always been built on putting people first, residents, families and staff alike.
Eighteen months ago, Yvonne was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Despite undergoing invasive treatment and facing unimaginable personal challenges, Yvonne continued to lead Summerville House with the same selflessness and care she has always shown. Her priority remained the wellbeing of her residents and the support of her team, even at a time when many would understandably step back.
Yvonne’s commitment to her residents and colleagues has been unwavering. She continues to put the people she supports and works alongside first, often at personal cost, embodying the values that sit at the very heart of adult social care.
This recognition is a powerful reminder of why so many choose to work in care and the difference that dedication, kindness, and leadership make every day. ArmsCare also extends their thanks to the National Care Association for supporting the nomination, and to Their Majesties for recognising the vital contribution carers make to the lives of older and vulnerable people across the country.
Congratulations to Yvonne and the team at ArmsCare on this well-deserved recognition!
