We want to hear from you about the nursing workforce challenges – and opportunities – across social care.

Join the conversation: shaping the future nursing workforce in social care

  • Are you currently using high levels of agency staff?
  • Are you concerned about workforce sustainability, upcoming retirements, or a lack of succession planning?
  • Are nursing vacancies proving hard to fill?

These are common pressures across the sector. Yet one potential solution is still sometimes overlooked: recruiting newly qualified nurses.

  • Have you ever considered this approach?
  • If not, what has stopped you?
  • If you have, what have your experiences been like?

To support open, honest discussion, we are inviting adult social care providers to take part in an informal, provider‑only online session. This will be a chance to share challenges, learn from peers, and explore practical approaches to building a stronger, more resilient nursing workforce. This will take place on 12th May at 9:30-10:30.

Alongside this, we are working with the University of East Anglia (UEA) to connect providers with a growing pipeline of local student nurses and newly qualified nurses who are keen to understand the opportunities within social care.

This will include an in‑person event, bringing providers together with student nurses and newly qualified nurses. This will be a valuable opportunity to have open and honest conversations over a cup of tea to support this talent pipeline to understand

  • What working in social care looks like today
  • Career development and progression
  • How nurses can find their place in social care
  • The potential for a lifelong, rewarding career in the sector

This face to face event will be hosted at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. Date to be confirmed.
